Grey Fang

3,988 m · grade III+ · Teton Range

The mountain

Grey Fang is what it sounds like — a chipped fang of grey rock, 3,988 metres, that sits alone at the head of the cirque. First light hits it an hour before the rest of the range.

The standard route

approach 1 day, steep but short
route NW arete, grade III+, 700 m
crux the Fang step, a single 5.7 move
descent down the east face gullies

When to go

June through October. It's a one-day push for fit parties, which makes it the busiest summit in the range — go mid-week.
