Skyline Ridge

The mountain

Skyline Ridge isn't one summit but five, linked by a traverse that never dips below 4,000 metres. It's less a climb than a walk on the roof of the range.

The standard route

approach   1 day from the tram
route      full traverse, grade II, 8 km
crux       the Notch, a short 5.4 downclimb
descent     any of three exit couloirs

When to go

August to September, once the snow has consolidated. Carry a rope for the Notch; the rest is exposed but easy.
